I haven't actually logged into the World of Warcraft for a while, but that doesn't mean I don't think about the game or look forward to coming back.

Lately I've been reading quite a bit of the available information about the upcoming expansion, and I have to say I'm excited by what I see...

Some of the profession changes look pretty interesting, and will hopefully make certain professions (*ahem* alchemy) more useful than they were in WotLK. I'm curious to see how archeology works out, especially now that Path of the Titans is gone.

The new guild leveling system looks fun, and along with the guild achievements should help us get out to do things as a guild more often. I don't know that we'll ever get the We are Legendary achievement, but it would still be fun to try. I know I want my own Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, but what old school paladin doesn't?

Speaking of paladins, the addition of holy power could make playing a pally more interesting. My only real in depth paladin experience for WotLK is playing as a tank, so it makes me a little nervous to be moving away from a nice predictable rotation like 96969, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out. The changes to block, along with the elimination of defense and the addition of mastery should make gearing up more interesting and less of a theory crafting chore than it was in WotLK.

Finally, the changes to raiding that equalize the gear between 10s and 25s should help make a small guild like ours not feel so handicapped compared to the massive guilds out there. It may take longer to gear everyone up, but we can still get to the same level. It's good not to feel like a 2nd class citizen!
